Superposition runs on trust. When you buy a ticket, sign up for news, or tell us what you need to be there comfortably, you are handing us information about yourself, and we take that seriously and handle it with care. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Superposition takes place across the Blue Mountains and Penrith, on Dharug and Gundungurra Country. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this Country and pay our respects to Elders past and present.
Superposition is an arts and music festival produced by Unfunded Empathy and Friends with Strangers, auspiced by Auspicious Arts Projects. When this policy says "we" or "us", we mean the festival and the people producing it. Our auspice body, Auspicious Arts Projects, holds certain financial records tied to ticket income.
Tickets are sold through our ticketing partner, Ferve. When you buy a ticket, some of your information is collected and held by Ferve under their own privacy policy, which we recommend reading, as well as by us.
We only collect what we need to run the festival, keep people safe, and stay in touch with those who want to hear from us.
When you buy a ticket. Ferve collects your name, email, contact and billing details, and your booking details (such as ticket type and quantity), and passes us what we need to manage your booking. Payment card details are handled by Ferve and their payment processor, so we do not see or store your full card number.
When you sign up for updates. We collect your name and email so we can send you festival news, and at times so we can reach you and similar audiences through advertising platforms such as Google and Meta. You can unsubscribe from any email, and you can ask us not to use your details for platform advertising.
When you tell us about access requirements. If you let us know what you need to attend comfortably (for example, wheelchair access, a companion ticket, or other adjustments), we collect those details to meet them. Some of this can be health information, which is sensitive, and we handle it with care and discretion. It sits within our ticketing system, with strong protections around it. We collect it only with your consent, access it only to improve your experience as a patron, share it only with those who need it to help you, and keep it no longer than we need to.
When you contact us. If you email us, fill in a form, or reach out on social media, we keep a record so we can help and follow up.
When you attend the festival. Superposition is documented by photographers and videographers for our records and, at times, for marketing and social media. Your choices are set out in the Photography section below. Some venues run their own CCTV for security, and remain responsible for it under their own policies.
When you use our website. Our site uses privacy-first cookies and analytics tools to see how the site is used (for example, which pages people visit) so we can improve it, along with advertising tools from platforms such as Google and Meta that help us reach the right people with festival marketing. These can collect your device, browser, approximate location, and the pages you view, and some send information to those platforms. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and through our consent banner where one is shown.
From social media. If you tag, message, or post about us publicly, we may see and keep that content, for example to reshare it or respond.
We keep the circle small, and share only where it is needed to run the festival or meet a legal obligation:
There will be photographers and videographers working across the festival, and images and footage may appear in our archive, marketing, and social media. Signage on site will show where filming is happening. If you would prefer not to appear, speak to our team on the day or contact us afterwards at hello@superpositionfestival.com, and we will do our best to remove you from anything we control.
Some of our tools (for example, our email platform or analytics) are run by companies based overseas, or store data overseas. Where your information is handled outside Australia, we take reasonable steps to keep it protected to Australian standards. Contact us if you would like to know where a particular tool stores data.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, and ask the partners who handle it to do the same. We keep it only for as long as we need it, or as the law requires, then delete or de-identify it. No system is completely secure, so if something goes wrong and your information is affected, we will act quickly and tell you where we are required to.
Superposition is an all-ages festival, with some events for over-18s only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without a parent or guardian's involvement. If you believe we hold information about a young person that we should not, contact us and we will address it.
We may update this policy as the festival grows and our tools change. The current version will always be on our website, with the date it was last updated. If we make a significant change, we will do our best to let you know.
